SKH51 steel plate is a high-grade tungsten-molybdenum series high-speed steel conforming to the Japanese JIS G4403 standard. AISI/ASTM standard is M2 steel.
Its primary characteristic is its ability to retain high hardness and cutting ability even at elevated temperatures (up to ~500-600°C or ~930-1110°F), a property known as red-hardness. This makes it unsuitable for structural components but ideal for cutting tools and wear-resistant parts.

Common Applications of SKH51/M2 Plate
SKH51 steel plate is not used for general construction. Its use is specialized for fabricating tools and parts where its unique properties are critical.
Cutting Tools: Drills, taps, reamers, end mills, broaches, saw blades, and gear hobs.
Punching and Forming Tools: Punches, dies, and wear plates for stamping, fine blanking, and cold forming operations.
Wear Parts: Guides, bushings, blades, and parts for machinery that experience severe abrasive wear.
Knives and Blades: Industrial knives for cutting paper, plastic, and metal, where a long-lasting edge is required.
